Born in Seoul, South Korea, Jaeil You grew up in China and the Czech Republic, being exposed to changing environments and people. His experiences of living in different metropolises introduced him to the broader art world. Europe, where he could travel to other countries easily, visiting the most famous museums and galleries, allowed him to grow up surrounded by art.
Influenced and supported by both his father, who wanted to become an artist, and his uncle, who is an architect, Jaeil showed an early interest in art. His wide-ranging interest in art and design took on focus during his studies at Pratt institute, directing him to jewelry design.
Jaeil himself states “I want to create arts that doesn’t have boundaries”. 
Jaeil was voted as an Art & Design ambassador and translator in his high school for “The Great Festival of Creativity” (2015), inaugurated by the Duke of Cambridge. In 2016 and 2017s, he worked as a wall painting artist in “Ihwa Mural Village” in South Korea, creating and recovering destroyed wall paintings. In 2021, he gathered with silversmiths in Korea, crafting metal parts for the artist James Jean’s 3D figure series “Maze”, for James Jean’s collaboration show with the K-POP group BTS at “The Hive” Agency in Seoul. He graduated from Pratt Institute in 2022. 

Currently living in New York, Jaeil is working as a Jeweler / Designer in the city of inspirations, seeking for his path.
